The fact there was 4 different variation of the same story was really interesting ! in order, my preference goes to the movie (because it's clear and wonderful),and next the tv serie (strange, out of any other anime i've seen so far, this impression of playing with shadows is a pleasure). strangely, the manga of the movie is too "shy" on some part to be like the movie. concerning the manga, i didn't like it much except some point in Anthy behaviour.

oh I'm quite addicted to utena too. I'm constantly listening to the soundtracks, and thinking up ideas for more fanart/wallpapers. I'm pretty much the same as you, I like the anime lots more than the manga. My main reason though is because I think the character desgisn are a LOT more appealing. though unfortunately, I've only been able to see the movie of the animation. I'm hoping all I can that I get to see the series soon.

really, you thought the movie manga was more shy than the animated version? I think it's a bit the other way around, especially with the manga scene with utena and touga, and then they show alot more with te situation with anthy and akio, you know? it just seemed like there was lots more sexuality and violence in the book. but the manga ending was MUCH better. i thought the whole deal with the cars was a bit stupid .
